About Us

Our Story

Marvilee was founded in 2023 in honor of my son, Marvin Lee Sullivan, who passed away from substance abuse. In the midst of my grief, I found myself without resources, support, or guidance. I know firsthand how isolating and overwhelming this journey can be, and that’s why I created Marvilee—to ensure that no family has to go through this alone.

We imagine and work towards a world where no family suffers the loss of a loved one to substance abuse.

Our Mission

Support families affected by substance use disorders and mental health challenges by partnering with community organizations to provide meaningful resources, life-skills education, and empowerment opportunities for both youth and parents.

Marvilee is dedicated to supporting families who have lost loved ones to substance abuse, as well as those currently struggling with addiction and to empower youth by providing opportunities to develop life skills, grow from mentorships, and learn from job trainings in support of mental health and substance abuse. Bridging youth to community resources and collaborate with like-minded organizations to offer compassionate support to those navigating this difficult path.

Meet The Staff & Board

Executive Director

Regina Sullivan

Regina Sullivan is a passionate advocate for youth mental health and community support. With a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Doane University, she currently serves as the Executive Director of Marvilee Non-Profit, where she focuses on providing mental health resources and life skills training for young people. With a strong background in community outreach and education. Regina has worked with organizations like EducationQuest Foundation and Malone Community Center, enhancing access to vital resources and fostering inclusive environments. Recognized for her dedication to public health, she aims to empower individuals and strengthen community connections.

 

 

 

President

Ryan Carruthers

Ryan Carruthers is a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) and Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) in the State of Nebraska who has been practicing for over 18 years. He holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Studies from Capella University. Ryan is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers and has also worked as an adjunct professor at local colleges. Ryan has provided countless continuing education classes to other addiction counselors, mental health practitioners, and peer support specialists in the State of Nebraska on topics related to harm reduction, suicide prevention, and alternatives to the 12-step programs. He is also a Certified SMART Recovery facilitator, as he started Omaha’s first SMART Recovery meeting. Ryan has created programs for Education Courses, Outpatient Programming, Intensive Outpatient Programming, Adolescent/Family Education Courses, and Residential Curriculum. At the end of the 2007-08 school year, Ryan was awarded Millard Public School’s “Expanding Horizons” Award for “Making a difference by enhancing students learning of curriculum through practical experience in the school environment.” Ryan has held various positions with CenterPointe, in Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska, and has been their Chief Clinical Officer for the last three years.

Vice President

Felicia Mendoza

Felicia Mendoza is a dedicated Life & Health Coach with over 20 years of experience in the human services field, specializing in working with children, families, and individuals navigating addiction and recovery. Her background includes extensive work in the child welfare system, fostering adolescents and teens, and supporting diverse populations through challenging life circumstances.

In addition to her professional work, Felicia Mendoza has been Teammates Mentor, a foster parent, and has previously served on the board of an organization supporting at-risk youth. She is passionate about empowering young people to develop essential life skills and supporting families as they overcome obstacles. As a Life and Health Coach, she is committed to helping individuals create meaningful change and live fulfilling lives.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Felicia Mendoza is deeply rooted in family values and prioritizes health and fitness as a foundation for well-being. She embraces opportunities to grow, inspire, and make a positive impact on the lives of others.

BOARD MEMBER

Travis Russell


Travis Russell brings a wealth of experience and heart to the Marvilee board. After a 25-year career in training, consulting, and graduate-program teaching, he left the corporate world for entrepreneurship, where his latest venture is as co-owner of Lila Mae’s Southern Kitchen. Travis combines professional expertise with a deep personal commitment to raising awareness about mental health and substance abuse.

After facing his own struggles with addiction and choosing sobriety in 2024, Travis joined Marvilee to give back to the recovery community that helped save his life. He often says, “I recover loudly because so many others suffer in silence,” a message that drives his dedication to advocacy, education, and hope for those still finding their way to recovery.
